Why does Maungarei sleep? Pourquoi story

Why does Maungarei sleep?

It is told that long ago once there were guardians and their ancestors of the land and one of them were Maungarei, the humans would take strolls walks and even build on her, that started the roaming on Maungarei making her annoyed, she felt disrespected and thought the humans weren’t grateful for her protection, she got furious and explode in fury being woken from her slumber so she made war against the humans erupting into a fiery volcano destroying everything throughout and making her rage was so bad that she was was swallowing houses, people and villages and it developed a dark smokescreen of death.

But slowly she became lonely and after a long time no one was around. People never walked on her, talked to her or even cared. she became lonely…  her whanau never cared and so she stopped erupting and instead became from a fighter to a peaceful watcher scanning over everyone. They started to have talks, chatting, kids curious, and people still wondering the “Mystery” of why Maungarei erupted and stopped and became a peaceful observer, she was peaceful with the humans now and allowed her to be woken and when she was she would’ve chatted with the humans.

So people were no longer afraid, and scared so they all flourished and lived in harmony, and no one would be afraid of Maungarei. She swore that she would never erupt and will only peacefully gaze over the humans making sure everyone is safe and watching the kids playing and slowly watching people evolve and learn more and create more technology as she keeps her calm temper to herself.

Volcano Animation

LI: To Understand how a volcano erupts.

This week we were tasked to make a volcano eruption animation and how it works.

First we made a slide and traced or made our own volcano and used various types of shapes and colours to make the volcano, lava and smoke and other things.

Then we made the animation with lava flows and the earthquakes and the the lava flowing to the magma chamber and applying pressure to it then making a big explosion.

And finaly we made the final project and polishing it and fixing up then blogged what i’ve made.

3 facts Mount Matavanu

This week we were tasked to make a imformational google vid about facts 3 about Mount Matavanu.

First we were given a google doc about living on a lava flow. We skimmed and scanned through the story .

Then in separate groups we answered the following questions using information from the text and commenting on the questions to answer them.

Lastly we made a google video for 3 facts about Mount Matavanu and recorded our voices on a script to make the final project.

Diary WW1

We have been looking at the events that took place at ANZAC Cove on 25 April 1915, during WW1. Many of our NZ soldiers were wounded or killed in action. We looked at videos of life in the trenches, explored the Walking with ANZACs site and read Hami Grace’s diary. Doing this helped us put our own diary entries together.

We used Google Vids to record our diary entries. I enjoyed using this as it allowed me to learn how to use Google Vids and mostly how to make a podcast on Google Vids.

Something I found interesting about this task was that we could add our own custom music.

Samuel Marsden Podcast

This task was used with adobe express podcast. we used a Google docs and made a srpict for us to use while recording in the audio. The sripct had two diffrent chacters like Samuel Mardesn and the host. In the sripct we created question and answer them to reverned marsden.

Kuaka Infographic

LI: To create an infographic that tells others about the migration of the Kuaka

Something interesting I found out about the Kuaka was that unlike normal birds they don’t rest in water or eat in sea. From this DLO I can see what the Kuaka is that its unlike normal sea birds.

Mapping the Migratory Flight of the Kuaka

LI: To use Google My Maps to show the migratory flight path of the Kuaka.

For this task we had to map the migration of the Kuaka bird/the Bar Tailed Godwit. We calculated the distance and  each place where the Kuaka bird would rest and keep going on the journey. There are different places they eat, breed and do other things.

Dot to dot connections Kuaka bird

In reading we had a challenge to create a dot to dot connection about the kuaka bird, we were tasked to map out 7 words that connect to the Kuaka bird, we connected 2 words together for every word, we made a sentence about how its related to the kuaka bird linking to 2 words that we choose to link together, the ones highlighted yellow are the ones we did last week and the green ones are the ones we did recently.

Photo Story

Today we were challenged to make a collage about when we walked down the tamaki river and we stopped many times for photo’s and we went to the Pnt England Reserve to eat, play sport and do other things with friends and with other people, before the walk our teacher asked a question to us and asked what we think he saw when samuel marsden saw when he arived to New zealand, it was a nice and fit walk to do and we saw some wonderful people walking past, our teachers took a lot of photo’s like group photo’s and photo’s while we were walking, when we arived back to school we did a activity and asking someone that’s pretending to be Samuel Marsden and we asked them questions about what they think Samuel Marsden saw because they were acting as him.
